Motorcycle Theft Prevention

One of the most effective and cheap methods of motorcycle theft prevention is to chain and lock your dirt bike to something in your shed that is secure.

I put a bracket in the floor of my shed so that the bike could be chained to it while it was still on the stand instead of having to have it against the wall chained to a support beam or post.

I fabricated a bracket arrangement out of 3mm steel and used a 12mm hardened stainless steel bolt as the pin that goes through the side of the bracket. The pin holds a high tensile rigging 'D' shackle in place, that's what the padlock secures to. (see pic below)

I used some high tensile lifting chain which I covered in electrical cable heatshrink, this is just to stop the chain scratching the bike.

You need to cut a rectangular hole in the concrete floor, then bolt the bracket into the hole. Use washers under the bracket so that the top edge sits flush with the level of the floor. Once the bracket is bolted down just fill around it with quick set cement, that way it's extremely difficult to get to the bolts.

Buy a good quality, tamper resistant padlock and you're done!
