Kawasaki Dirt Bikes - History And Today
The Kawasaki dirt bikes history stretches back a long way, Kawasaki motorcycles began in 1949 when the company started producing motorcycles engines, before then Kawasaki produced parts for the aeronautical industry. By the early 50's they were producing complete motorcycles for the Asian market.
In 1963 the Kawasaki dirt bikes legend was born with the introduction of the B8M Motocrosser. This was a purpose built race machine that went on to blitz most of the major motocross tournaments in Japan at the time.
The B8M Motocrosser was the start of the Kawasaki dirt bikes legacy, the long running KX motocross series evolved from these early race bikes. The KDX series was another success story for Kawasaki, these bikes were more suited to cross country and enduro racing. The KDX series bikes are on borrowed time with tough new emission laws spelling the end of road registered two strokes.
With two strokes being legislated out of existence, bike manufacturers are now pouring all of their R+D dollars into four strokes. This has led to the birth of the KX250F and KX450F.
'07 Kawasaki Dirt Bikes
KX250F/450F
The '07 KX450F has been released with a new 5 speed transmission this year. The bike also has some revised engine specs aimed at improving bottom end and mid range power delivery. There's been some changes made to the chassis frame spars and also up front there are new fork internals and what Kawasaki is calling DLC 'diamond like carbon' coated fork tubes.

The KX250F has a strengthened five speed box for '07 and revised chassis specs to improve steering. Kawasaki is still offering the optional parts list which includes goodies such as various magneto rotors, a 20 inch front wheel, solid petal brake rotors for wet conditions and a selection of springs for the rear shock and front forks.

KX250
The KX250 is largely unchanged for '07. In the suspension department there's a dual compression adjustable rear shock and Kayaba USD forks up front. The 250 two stroke has Renthal handlebars standard and an options package that includes solid brake rotors for wet conditions and an optional 20 inch front wheel.

KX85
There aren't a whole lot of updates for the '07 KX85, the baby KX's have a high tensile steel perimeter frame and 36mm USD forks. The 84cc engine has an Electrofusion coated cylinder and a large volume combustion chamber for more top end power.
The KX85 has dominated the junior motocross scene for years now and has had its competitors playing catch up in the 85cc and 65cc classes.

Kawasaki dirt bikes have a long and rich history, the company is constantly working on improving the competitiveness of their bikes, you can't afford to stay still in the motocross industry.
