Stay low over jumps with this dirt bike jumping technique.
Staying low over jumps is a dirt bike jumping technique that isn't particularly easy
to do, it requires a fair bit of practice, but
try this.
As you approach a jump you should be in the attack position (standing centralised on the bike,
head over the crossbrace, knees in and holding the tank, elbows up and out), most jumps whether
they be a simple ski jump, tabletop or gap jump will have an up ramp that is curved up (instead
of a straight linear type up ramp).
As you get to the top of the up ramp let the bike come
up towards your body and bend your knees and elbows to absorb the up force of the bike.
As the bike leaves the top of the ramp turn it slightly and lay it flat by weighting one footpeg
and pulling up on the opposite side end of the handlebars. The combination of those two
techniques will arrest the upward movement of the bike and will allow you to stay low over the
jump.
This is an advanced dirt bike jumping technique that can shave seconds off your lap times, the
less time spent in the air around a track the better. I wouldn't advise you try it initially
over a double or triple, probably better over a jump that doesn't matter if you come up short.
