Fasst Bar Weights Reviewed
As part of my never ending quest to beat arm pump I decided to fit a pair of bar weights to my bike to reduce the vibrations through the handlebars. I purchased a pair of Fasst Company brass weights to suit the Renthal Fat bars on my bike.
I ordered them directly through their website (www.fasstcompany.com) in the U.S. and had shipped out to me in Australia, as part of the ordering process you choose what type and inside diameter bars you have.
They're a well made product, there was a comprehensive set of instructions included (not that fitting them is particularly difficult) and I had no trouble installing them in my bars.
They also come shipped with an adapter kit so you can fit hand guards as well.
There was noticeable difference in how much my handlebars were vibrating with the bike idling on the stand and I have to say that they do help a bit when you ride. In muddy and slippery conditions I tend to ride forward on the bike more and this makes the muscle below my thumbs ache, with the bar weights in it eased the fatigue in my hands.
All in all I think they were a good purchase, they're not particularly expensive, but if you suffer from arm pump I think there are some other things you could be doing before you go to the trouble of buying some bar weights.
Things like suspension and control set up cost you nothing and are a great help combating rider fatigue, as does fitness training off the bike and also regular riding on the bike.
Once you cover all those bases then I would look at accessories such as bar weights, steering dampeners etc. (photos courtesy of fasstcompany.com)
